“Bananofi Pie” @AcehotelPalmSprings

“The rocks on the wall came from a quarry in Palos Verdes. It was a hip design thing back then … Just like the terrazzo on the floor.
-My Foodie Buddy Larry
Bananofi Pie!
It’s a pie, with bananas, toffee, and a ton of whipped cream.
It’s different. It’s eclectic. But is it hipster or old school?
It was late and I was hanging out with my foodie friend Larry.
“Let’s go have pie!” He said.
“But I’m on keto!” I said.
“What’s that?” He repeated.
Exactly… pie trumps keto any day.. especially something as artsy as ” Bananofi” at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.
Kings Hideaway, the restaurant that adjoins the Ace was once a Howard Johnson’s. It still has rocks on the wall with terrazzo flooring.
“You can see where they took off the carpet or whatever flooring was there by the lines on the floor!” Larry points out as I’m stuffing my face with Bananofi pie.
The conversation: Mid Century Modern architectural floors and wall coverings.. what else would we talk about in one of the worlds hubs of this kind of art form!
