What Are You Looking For ? #100DaysOFSummer

I have run

I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls

Only to be with you

But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.

-U2 I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

It’s the common question people ask on dating apps ” What Are You Looking For? ”

It’s an awkward question!

If you met someone you liked in person, you probably wouldn’t ask them that question. You’d either choose to pursue them or not to pursue them.

But dating apps are different! Most people are looking for sex, or at least think they are looking for sex.

What a weird society we have become?

On a recent date with someone I had met on an app, we were discussing what we wanted…

At the time, I wanted a partner in crime. My better half. Or just someone I could connect with and do fun summer stuff with like go to a baseball game and a concert at the Hollywood bowl.

I was telling my date a story of a “power couple” I admired. A couple I followed on Instagram: Trina Turk and Mr. Turk.

“I want a Mr Turk” I had said. “Someone who is the yin to my yang!”

My date agreed that he’d also want to be friends with this couple! That’s how cool they are!

They look fun. Are swanky dressers. And for the most part look happy!

Though the date was entertaining, I think my date and I agreed there was no connection.

Typical of app dating!

Many, many missed connections, or just loaded with people thinking they want sex. And getting STD’s!

A few days after my date, I found myself in Pasadena. I wasn’t suppose to be there. The appointment I had set up fizzled, and then I found myself confused and thinking : “why was I in Pasadena?”

I had parked in an area across the street from a city park.

As I got out of my car, I looked across the street and saw a man wearing a snazzy pair of plaid pants! I thought to myself, I know those pants!!!

I followed the man. And yes I knew him: It was Mr Turk!

I literally manifested “Mr. Turk!” What are the odds… not that I wanted him, just someone “like” him!

The Universe truly has a sense of humor! At least it does in my personal screen play!

Happy #100DaysOfSummer

Cheers!
