As I was flipping through the summer edition of the Desert Outlook and admiring my friend and Palm Springs paparazzo’s Rob Lebow’s cover photo, I noticed it was all about : The Queens Of Summer!
I have to say… I follow Dolly Partons sentiment. If I wasn’t a girl… I would so be a Drag Queen.
Queen of The Desert is The PalmSprings Drag Queen show down. A benefit for desert AIDS Project, the Deserts Drag Queens all compete for the title of “Queen Of The Desert!” And whenhairdresser Mathew who was in town, called to ask: ” So what’s going on in Palm Springs.. Anything fun?”
I just had to throw on my multicolored Desigal dress I bought in Naples, Italy last summer, and hop on down to the Renaissance Hotel.
Lots of beautiful “Queens” in attendance.
And yes I’m jealous! Since my left shin splint injury I have not been able to wear my heals… watching these “Queens” walk around in 10 inch platforms was making me salivate!
Amazing Lady Gaga opening!
Followed by the swimsuit competition portion of the event!
I’ll have to say my favorites were definitely Arial Trampway and Lola.
Madonnas Vogue was amazing! And the backup dancers were on point!
