NETFLIX COMA: Top 3 Brain Anesthesia Flix
The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.
Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals Of Sylvia Plath
Netflix Coma! We’ve all be there. It’s a safe haven for creatives hitting the “Wall Of Self Doubt!” or just that sea of molasses where nothing seems to be happening because … it’s summer!
On my recent NETFLIX binge aka COMA aka Brain Anesthesia, I’ve come across some great flix that have helped me expand my creativity…
MY TOP 3 NETFLIX COMA PICKS
Baz Lurhman’s latest masterpiece that pairs Disco with HIP HOP. My dark little secret is: I once wanted to be a DJ. I use to mess up my records and my parent’s stereo needles in my earliest efforts trying to be like “Grand Master Flash!” I knew what the purple crayon was for when the “Grand Master” asked the “Grasshopper!”
The first 6 episodes are only on NETFLIX at this time! Great for a mini Coma if you love Diso, Hip Hop, and Baz!
2.Steve Aoki: I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead
Steve Aoki son of Benihanna mogul, and world famous DJ, who like the Benihanna Chef’s is a performance artist. He throws out inflatable rafts, champagne and cake at his concerts!
If anyone has uttered the words to you: “You have too many ideas” or “You do to much!” this film is a must! Only geniuses accomplish many things in their lifetime. It looks like Steve Aoki is one of them! Watch if you want to be inspired!
3. Marina Abramovic The Artist Is Present
Probably my favorite out of all 3. Anyone who can be a performance artist and bare her naked soul is on the top of my list! In 2012 Marina Abramovic created her art installation at the MOMMA in New York.
Her art is herself.
She spent 3 months 6 days/ week sitting across from strangers starring at them. She slowed everyones brains down and looked into deep their souls. Her mantra: Performance is about a state of mind!
If you find yourself falling into a NETFLIX coma… the best thing to do is ride it out for a day or 2. If it takes more than that… then you officially have a problem!
