I Went To Benny Blanco’s Favorite Thai Restaurant in Hollywood & It Was Pretty Fabulous

I might be eating something and the bag opens up in a cool way and I’m like ‘I wanna put that in a song.’

-Benny Blanco

Who is Benny Blanco? That was my question when I kept seeing multiple YouTube posts bashing the songwriter’s engagement to Selena Gomez due to his appearance. I started following him on social media and quickly became obsessed.

Benny Blanco is not only a talented songwriter responsible for creating 29 hit songs which include ‘Eastside,’ he’s also a huge foodie and talented chef who released his first cookbook in 2024. On their first date, Benny took Selena out to his favorite Thai restaurant Jitlada Thai on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. So, of course I had to go check it out and yes, it was pretty fabulous.

Shrimp Tamarind

Unfortunately, Jitlada Thai no longer had Benny’s favorite shrimp dish ( which I think can be found in his cookbook) on the menu and was featured for a few weeks in march for his birthday when Selena had a private birthday party for him this year. So, we ordered the next best thing: the shrimp tamarind. It was crispy, tangy and delicious. The batter was deeply fried to perfection and not too greasy. We also ordered the spring rolls but inhaled them before I could snap some photos. They were that good!

Thai Iced Tea

If you’re having Thai food, you definitely gotta have Thai tea. Creamy and not too sweet was this concoction at Jitlada.

Pad Thai with shrimp chicken and tamarind sauce.

Pad Thai, it’s a Thai food staple in Los Angeles and sometimes it can be served a bit dry. Not at Jitlada! The pad Thai with shrimp and chicken is dripping with tamarind sauce and I don’t think I’ve ever had it served this way. Definitely savory .

Papaya Salad

I love a good Thai papaya salad. It was so good we inhaled it before I could take a picture. This salad was overflowing with crunchy cashews which totally added the perfect crunch.

Sator Lamb

My bro ordered the Sator Lamb. Definitely an interesting dish but not my favorite.

Garlic and pepper chicken

This dish was divine and definitely one of my favorites! I mean who can resist garlic pepper chicken: only a vampire.

Fried banana and coconut ice cream

Of course we ended our meal with a bang and ordered the fried banana and coconut ice cream topped with crispy shaved dried coconut. This was so yummy and a perfect ending to a fabulous meal.

I do plan on going back to try some of Jitlada’s Thai curries because Thai curry is my favorite and of course I’ll definitely be ordering the shrimp tamarind again.

Jitlada Thai is a must and Benny Blanco definitely has a sophisticated palate.
