“Do you want a to go or a mug?”

The Starbucks barista in downtown Palm Springs uttered this question after I placed my order for a Pistachio latte. It’s new on the menu and for some reason the way I made this decision I felt would somehow change my fate and bump me into an alternative timeline.

So I took a moment and chose the mug.

And there came my frothy pistachio ( 2 pumps only cuz 4 is too much) latte in all its glory sitting in a beautifully white Starbucks mug.

It was exquisite. It didn’t look like a typical Starbucks coffee in a white or plastic drinking cup. It was different. And yes it tasted different too.

It was frothy, creamy and decadent with brown sugar sprinkled on top with just the right amount of espresso coffee entangled with hints of pistachio notes.

Of course, I was in a time crunch and I really should have taken a “to go” coffee instead but the experience and perhaps the flavor would not have been the same.

I mean I was forced to stop “time” and just sit with this decadent cup of coffee looking out into the palm tree lined streets of downtown Palm Springs and enjoy my latte like the Italians in Italy take time to enjoy there’s.

It was a spectacular moment. It felt like time stood still. We all have that power to stop time and enjoy a latte or call a friend.
