I am not a demon. I am a lizard a shark a heat seeking panther. I want to be Bob Denver on acid playing the accordion.

“I’m a Vampire. I’m a Vampire. I’m a Vampire.”
Have you seen Vampires Kiss? It’s a hidden gem of a movie. You can watch it for free on Tubi.

Vampires Kiss originally came out in 1988. I heard about it on YouTube one day while I was doom scrolling. Or was it on TikTok?
Anyway, Nicholas Cage is brilliant in this movie. And if you’re looking for something weird and retro to watch this summer while you’re keeping cool with air conditioning, Vampires Kiss is a perfect choice.
Nick Cage does something called “Nouveau Shamanic,” a type of acting developed by Nicholas Cage himself which is kind of like “method acting” where an actor becomes the character as if they are doing some type of channeling. In Nouveau Shamanic, one’s imagination is increased without restraint and avoidance of one being ingenious. In other words, it’s all about augmenting your imagination in a healthy way to become a character.

Nick does this incredibly well as we see him as a publishing executive slowly start to unravel mentally as he thinks he’s becoming a “vampire.” We see the protagonist “Peter” recite the A B C’s in a dramatic dance in front of his psychiatrist. We see him flapping is arms up and down in the hallway of his workplace saying ‘I’m a vampire. I’m a vampire. I’m a vampire.” And we also see him eat a live “cockroach.” In interviews Nick states that all his scenes were scripted and well thought out ahead of time.He would practice in front of his cat in his hotel room for hours.
My favorite scene has to be in the end when Peter goes to buy a pair of fake vampire fangs. He then walks the streets “like a vampire.” It’s kinda like a Russian doll type of phenomenon. Nicholas Cage becoming Peter who turns into a vampire with plastic fangs.

If you know anything about shamans, they will turn into a “character” of sorts mimicking to the seeker what’s going on in the persons life and in society. in Vampires Kiss we slowly see the protagonist Peter turn into a vampire. A guy whose had the life sucked out of him by his corporate job. Typical of what’s going on in the world today, how NOBODY wants to sit in a cubicle and turn into a vampire, a zombie, or Frankenstein.

ST. Louis Cemetery NOLA
I’m a huge Nick Cage fan. I even visited his “grave” in New Orleans in 2019 at the St. Louis Cemetery. That’s right, Nicholas Cage is still “ALIVE” but he’s got a tomb at the cemetery in NOLA you can visit. The phrase “OMINA AB UNO” ‘everything from one’ is on his “pyramid” shaped tomb. Sometimes you can see faint lipstick prints from female fans kissing the tomb.
Maybe Nicholas Cage is really a Vampire.
